Illinois State's outdoor track and field facilities received a facelift in the summer of 2003, as the school continued to upgrade several areas of the athletics department for competition in the 21st century. With the Kaufman Football Building, the renovation of the North Gym in Horton Field House, and now the upgrading of the outdoor track, Illinois State has continued its commitment to building first-class facilities for its coaches and student-athletes.

The outdoor track was renovated with Martin SS 2000, provided by Southwest Recreational Industries. Every element regarding the track has been designed to enhance the experience for the student-athlete as well as for the benefit of hosting meets.

Illinois State used the new facility to its advantage in 2004, as the Redbirds hosted two outdoor meets.

The Redbird Classic on April 17 and the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships on May 12-15 took place on the Illinois State campus, providing parents and fans the opportunity to support the track and field program without much travel.

Directions:
From I-55, take exit 165, U.S. 51-South Main St., to Gregory and turn left on Adelaide. From I-39, exit at I-55 east, and the first exit is 165. From I-74, follow I-55 North to exit 165. From the airport, turn left on Empire (Rt. 9) for approximately two miles, right on Veteran's Parkway for approximately four miles, left on College Avenue, for approximately six miles and right on Adelaide Street for about a mile. Take the first right and follow the road to the bend, then turn left. The outdoor track facility will be on your left behind Horton Field House.
